Greetings from Reneé, Joan, and David
Renee, Joan, and Dave Hammond Happy New Year!

2006 is already upon us and we're busy getting ready for spring. We will need to update our catalog to reflect the drop in inventory this year. We have to remove hundreds of plants to prepare for a pipeline project that crosses our property. The new pipeline has caused us some heartache but we'll make the best of the situation. Dave has a new digital camera and we are planning to put lots of new pictures on our website this year.

We're still here north of Arlington in the state of Washington doing what we love to do, growing many varieties of rhododendrons and deciduous azaleas and always interested in the new stuff, rare finds, and the antique selections.

We have collected data from many sources and friends to describe plant material that we sell. Here is an example of the symbols, numbers and letters used in plant descriptions.

Blooming Time Symbols Usual Blooming Times
VE Jan, Feb, to mid-March
E mid-March to mid-April
EM mid-April to May 1st
M May 1st to May 15
LM May 15 to June 1
L June 1 to June 15th
VL June 15th to July

Example of our catalog information:

  • In the parenthesis is the plant cross description.
  • LM is the blooming season.
  • -5F is the lowest temperature the plant will survive.
  • Description of plant and name of hybridizer if available.
  • The age of the plant for sale.
